Insult to Injury

10 days AFTER my accident I'm finally in a rental car. The other driver's insurance claimed 90% liability. I find that a little ridiculous because they claim that I "should have seen it coming and prevented it". I kind of figured that is why these things are called accidents but... that may just be me. I had a very bad experience with the company so I'm slightly surprised that they even offered 90%. By Monday I was completely frustrated that they couldn't even give me some numbers and let me know what was going on AND that I was still being a hassle to my amazing sister by depriving her of her own car. Thanks to Ellen and Cameron I got to work for a week while waiting for the insurance company's "assessment and investigation."

If my completely unprofessional experience with the other party insurance wasn't insult enough. (Yes, I was literally insulted on the phone) I went and picked up my rental today.

Rental guy: "Let me show you what we're going to put you in. It's a Fiat."
Me: *eye roll and thoughts about how many times I think to myself "who would buy a Fiat" as I passed the billboard on I-15***
***walk outside***
Me: "Really?"
Rental guy: ***laughs***

All day I've had to resist the urge to try and push it over... just to see if I could do it.

Looking On The Bright Side

I really wish that as a follow up on my last post that the bright side of things is that insurance companies are amazing. That I have been taken care of as the victim in yet another accident should be. That my car is all fixed.

I can't.

The insurance company I'm dealing with is by far THE WORST. Ever. I hope none of you ever get in an accident with someone driving a rental. They will make you wait a week (and then some) on a rental for yourself (yeah I don't get that either) and probably call you a liar in the process.

But, we're looking on the bright side!

My sister and brother-in-law have been amazing enough to let me use their car for a week.

My brother-in-law is always the amazing one who fixes my car and didn't hesitate to say he'd help again... then added it is probably time to trade in the Mazda.

I will probably take his advice, and as sad as that makes me because I LOVE MY MAZDA... I'm excited to look at some new options.

I am finally getting settled into my new place. No more boxes in my room and only one left in the living room. Walls, painted. Room, organized. Grocery shopping, done (mostly).

I got a new phone finally... I'm already addicted to my new iPhone and have been going App crazy. (This might be the brightest of my little rays of sunshine!)

I've realized how much closer I am to my best friend Colbilyn, and last night had our first "I'm bored an have no energy, what are you doing?" movie nights since freshman year.

Literal bright side... SUMMER IS FINALLY HERE!

I really could go on and on. It's been a pretty crappy week, but... There's almost always a bright side. Or at least a few rays of sunshine. :)

Welcome to Sandy

Yesterday I was welcomed to Sandy in spectacular fashion... car accident #5 in 3 years.

I'm fine. A little sore, but my poor poor little Mazda. I just got her back from Cameron having FINALLY fixed the body damage from my little adventure last September. This time it was a front end-broken bumper-shattered headlight-bent wheel kind of excitement.

You would think that at some point my luck would change with this car. And this always seems to happen on a weekend so I'm stranded until the insurance company can get me a rental.

Maybe it is time to let Penelope go and find something that comes with a better run of luck. I say that every time, but I just LOVE my car.

For now, I'm stranded, again grateful that I'm safe, grateful for the many people willing to help me when I need it (which just seems to be WAY too often), and trying not to be frustrated.

Hired Muscle

At the risk of sounding like the KingPin, whenever possible, let someone else do the dirty work for you.

In all seriousness, moving day yesterday went SO well thanks to all the muscle. After a few loads of boxes there wasn't much I could do on my own anymore. I had planned on Ryan helping me with transportation and moving things into the new place... I have never felt so useless as I did yesterday. I pretty much sat back and watched as Ryan, my dad, and brothers loaded ALL of my stuff into a trailer. I don't think it took them more than 15 minutes, and I feel like there was A LOT of stuff (maybe just because I'm now faced with the task of organizing all of it.)

Ryan called a friend to help unload, and, again, I was completely useless. I seriously just told them where to put stuff. That was the easiest moving day ever!

Now I have to paint, unpack, shop, and organize things. Guess even the mob boss has to do some dirty work sometimes ;)

You Knew This Was Coming

This is the obligatory whiny packing post. I move on Friday and I have 3 boxes packed. 2 of them are of clothes. In the process of packing these two boxes I realized how many WINTER clothes I have and how few SUMMER clothes I have.

Guess what the solution was... yep, more shopping.

I don't know if I'm not packing because all of the sudden I'm not stressed about how to move everything from A to B or if I am supremely unmotivated. A note on that: huge thanks goes out to my friend Ryan for lowering stress levels by offering a truck, trailer, and muscles for the move... and buying me chocolate in the form of KitKats.

Seriously, no desire at all to pack any more. I especially am avoiding my bathroom. I've gotten so used to having a double vanity all to myself... now I'm going to be sharing a bathroom.

UGH!!!!!

Okay... I'm done whining (publicly)... maybe I'll go pack.

Or watch a movie.

Or read.

Step One...

Admit that you have a problem...

I, Jessie Tibbitts, have shoe problem.... a shopping problem really... which I need to get over since in a week I'll have to commit to the budget I forced myself to create.

but I had a coupon for a pair of shoes for $15.95!
and I had a crap-tastic Monday.
and the budget doesn't apply until next weekend.
and I had a coupon!
and the girl at the shoe store said I had great ankles...

and I think they are super cute. They are velvet :)

AND....

I have a problem.

Full Circle

I'm almost 100% positive about a few things... 1. Very few people read this blog (which is fine... it's more a therapeutic thing for me than anything else) 2. There are even fewer people that have read my blog since I started blogging about 3 years ago (let's ignore the 2ish years that I didn't actually post on my blog).

So there are very few people out there that know that one of my first posts was excitement about getting out on my own and moving to Bountiful. There are some of you that know how good and stable it has been for me to be back at home during all of the change of the past few months. There are a lot of you that know I've been very retrospective lately... I've grown and changed so much from two years ago.

I've learned to get over the shy front that I put up with people at first meeting.

I've lived on a budget... a very tight budget. You know the kind where you are trying to think of new ways to eat Ramen or find a cereal you haven't eaten for a week straight.

I've had 7 different roommates. Some I love and some... not so much.

My ratio of number of dates per month has improved... if only ever so slightly.

I've been in love.

I've laughed so hard my abs hurt.

I've stayed up late with friends crying over the tough things in life.

I've been heartbroken.

I've done a million and more happy dances.

I've done things I consider successful.

I've learned 100 or more random fact to add to the archives in my head.

I've really matured in the art of pranks.

I've gone back to school.

I've made big, hard decisions.

I've tried new things.

I've stubbornly continued the same old habits and ways of doing things.

I've made the kind of memories that sneak up on you and make you smile, ever so slightly.

And now... I'm doing it again. And I'm very excited... look at that list of things! How could I not be excited... and absolutely terrified? This time around, I don't know anyone. I don't even know my way around. I got lost trying to find the freeway the other day... driving on a grid system with mountains for directional reference.

BUT.... in keeping with my new "All you can do is keep moving forward" motto.... I'm doing it.

Stay tuned for whiney posts about packing.
